Pride Center

227 Squires Student Center

The Pride Center is a collaborative community space which aims to support the exploration of identity and connection through the lens of gender and attraction. We engage with LGBTQ+ history, culture, and community as a framework to empower faculty, staff, students, and community members to think critically, practice self reflection, and develop a sense of interconnectedness. The Pride Center works with campus partners to provide recurring programs, events, and services that promote wellbeing and belonging for all.

The Pride Center strives to be the home you make with the family you choose.

The Pride Center (formerly the LGBTQ+ Resource Center) at Virginia Tech first opened on August 15, 2016 as a direct result of the advocacy and activism of LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff and their supporters. In addition to our physical space in Squires Student Center, the Pride Center offers year-round programs, training opportunities, resources, and services that support personal and community well-being and belonging.

The Pride Center hosts a full slate of annual events that highlight the accomplishments, contributions, and lived experiences of queer and trans people including: Celebrate Bisexuality Day, LGBTQ+ History Month, Asexual Awareness Week, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Transgender Day of Visibility, and Pride Week.

Along with these annual observances, the Pride Center also collaborates with campus partners to provide a variety of programs and events that foster community building, identity exploration, educational engagement, and holistic wellness. These include programs like Q*mmunity Support Group, Queer Media Club, Just Journaling, the Queer Adventure Series, and many others.
