Pride Center

227 Squires Student Center

The Pride Center is a collaborative community space which aims to support the exploration of identity and connection through the lens of gender and attraction. We engage with LGBTQ+ history, culture, and community as a framework to empower faculty, staff, students, and community members to think critically, practice self reflection, and develop a sense of interconnectedness. The Pride Center works with campus partners to provide recurring programs, events, and services that promote wellbeing and belonging for all.

The Pride Center strives to be the home you make with the family you choose.

The Pride Center (formerly the LGBTQ+ Resource Center) at Virginia Tech first opened on August 15, 2016 as a direct result of the advocacy and activism of LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff and their supporters. The Pride Center offers a physical space in Squires Student Center, year-round programs, training opportunities, and services that support personal and community wellbeing and belonging.

Led by Dr. Bing and Haleigh Wallace, the Pride Center hosts annual events that highlight the accomplishments, contributions, and lived experiences of queer and trans people including: Celebrate Bisexuality Day, LGBTQ+ History Month, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Transgender Day of Visibility, and Pride Week.

In collaboration with our campus partners, the Pride Center also hosts a Q*mmunity Support Group, Queer Media Club, and Queer Adventure Series.
