AIICC (American Indian and Indigenous Community Center)

  • The center was founded in August 2016
  • Serves as a community gathering area and study space
  • Located in Room 122 in Squires Student Center
  • Native at VT is a registered student organization at Virginia Tech
  • It is dedicated to advancing the visibility of American Indians and other indigenous peoples on campus

ACE (Asian Cultural Engagement Center)

  • The most recent addition to the Cultural Community Centers
  • The ACEC is dedicated to advocating for and making visible Asian Pacific Islander Desi Americans and their communities
  • The space can accommodate a maximum of 30 people
  • Located in Room 140 in Squires Student Center

BCC (Black Cultural Center)

  • The BCC opened in Squires Student Center in 1991
  • It includes a comfortable space for community building and studying
  • The BCC also has a connection with the Black Cultural Center Alumni Advisory Board
  • They have a scholarship called the Black Cultural Alumni Advisory Board Scholarship
    • The scholarship is intended to support and promote the purpose and mission of the Black Cultural Center and provide support to students who enhance the lives of those associated with the Black Cultural Center

El Centro (Hispanic and Latinx Cultural and Community Center)

  • The Cultural and Community Center for the Latinx community at Virginia Tech
  • Belonging space for people who identify as Latinx or Hispanos
  • The center was created in July 2016
  • The center is located in 309 Squires Student Center

LGBTQA+ Community at Virginia Tech

  • The campus climate at Virginia Tech for LGBTQA+ students was given four out of five stars by CampusPride, and it continues to improve
  • The resource center opened in August 15, 2016
  • The center was previously student-run by HokiePRIDE, but now has a full time employee dedicated to the center
  • Denim Day
    • This celebration was started in 1979
    • It is used to promote the awareness of gay and lesbian people throughout campus
    • This day calls on all students, faculty, and staff to show their support of gay rights by wearing denim on that day
  • LGBTQ+ History Month (October 1-31)
    • This month was established in 1994 to recognize and celebrate significant historical moments for people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
  • Pride Week
    • This is a weeklong celebration of programs and events organized by the LGBTQ+ community at Virginia Tech

Intercultural Engagement Center

  • This is a space where students, faculty, and staff can create and enjoy a welcoming and inclusive environment
